After the Bell Business Report 3/23/22

Refinancing your mortgage seems to be losing its appeal. And Russia’s stock market is about to re-open. Inflation is all investors are seeing these days, as the Dow took another fall today, while oil continues to rise.

All three indexes were down around 1.25%.
The Dow fell 449 points to close at 34,358
The Nasdaq lost 186.
The S&P fell 55.

We told you yesterday about how mortgage rates are surging. Now at 4.5% for the 30-year. Today… we learn fewer people are refinancing their homes. Down 14% for the week, down 54% for the year.

The world will be watching when Russia resumes some stock trading tomorrow. Russia shut down the Moscow Exchange on February 25th as western sanctions began to hit their economy. Only Russians can trade for now, non-residents have to wait until April first.

Adobe shares plunged 10% after the software company lowered estimates for the fiscal year. Earlier this month, Adobe said it was stopping new sales in Russia. The stock is down about 39% from its all-time high in November of $420/share.
